Nigerian Afrobeats musician Adekunle Almoruf Kosoko, also known as Adekunle Gold and AG Baby, was born on January 28, 1987. After releasing the 2015 smash track “Sade,” a highlife rendition of One Direction’s “Story of My Life,” he attracted a lot of attention. His debut studio album, Gold, which he released in 2015 after inking a record contract with YBNL Nation, debuted at number seven on the Billboard Global Albums list. “Sade,” “Orente,” and “Pick Up,” three singles, were released before the album Gold. Before to signing with YBNL, Adekunle Gold stated to Nigerian Entertainment Today, he created other designs for Lil Kesh, Viktoh, and Olamide in addition to the label’s official emblem.
Adekunle first became interested in music as a child while listening to songs by King Sunny Ade and Ebenezer Obey. He joined the junior choir at his church when he was a teenager, and at the age of 15, he composed his first song. After breaking up with a band he had started in school with a mate, Adekunle went solo in 2014. He was called the “King of Photoshop” after releasing a modified photoshop photograph of him cuddling Tiwa Savage on social media networks. He released “Sade,” a rendition of One Direction’s “Story of My Life,” on December 19, 2014. The song received positive reviews and received a nomination for Best Alternative Song at the 2015 Headies.
