American singer and actress Rebbeca Marie Gomez, known professionally as Becky G, has dropped a hit tagged, “Bella Ciao,” the unofficial anthem for hit Netflix series Money Heist (also known as La Casa de Papel). The video pays homage to the money heist series. “I have always loved La Casa de Papel (Money Heist) and the way this show connected with millions of people across the world,” Becky G said in a statement.
The song is an Italian protest folk song from the late 19th century, and the song’s connection to the Spanish heist series is how “the Professor’s whole life revolved around one idea… resistance”. The song originates from 19th century Italy and first appeared in “Part 1” of the show. “Part 5: Volume 2,” the finale of the series, premieres on Netflix on Dec. 3
Becky G’s new extended version was released under Kemosabe/RCA Records, Becky G not only gives the song an uptempo reggaeton beat, but also flaunts her Italian singing skills. The music was produced by Nitin Reehal and released on December 1, 2021
