“Running Up That Hill (A Deal With God)” is a song by British art pop singer and songwriter Kate Bush, the song is the intro and first single in her 1985 LP tagged, “Hounds of Love”.
This miscommunication between a man and a woman is depicted in the song. As a result, Bush is attempting to persuade the man to accept the deal of swapping positions.
The single was released a month before the album, on August 5th, 1985. The song reached No. 3 in the UK charts, No. 6 in Australia, and No. 30 on the Billboard Hot 100 in the United States. It is Bush’s first and only major charting success in the United States. After being featured in the sci-fi television series Stranger Things, the song eventually reached No. 1 on the US iTunes charts in May 2022, 37 years later.
The record was written and produced by Kate Bush, and was released on August 5, 1985 under EMI label records.
