American singer and song writer Phoebe Bridgers has dropped “Sidelines,” her first original song since her Grammy-nominated 2020 album “Punisher.” The moody and low-key track is from Hulu’s adaptation of Sally Rooney’s low-key blockbuster novel “Conversations With Friends.”
For “Sidelines,” Bridgers teamed up with bandmate and collaborator Marshall Vore and Ruby Rain Henley. In a post on Instagram, the singer-songwriter shares that the cover art is a photo of her grandfather.
The song was offered production assistance by outstanding producers, Ethan Gruska, Tony Berg, Phoebe Bridgers & Marshall Vore and was released on April 15, 2022
Quotable Lyrics:
I’m not afraid of anything at all
Not dying in a fire, not being broke again
I’m not afraid of living on a fault line
‘Cause nothing ever shakes me, nothing makes me cry
Not a plane going down
In the ocean, I’m drowning
Watch the world from the sidelines
Had nothing to prove
‘Till you came into my life
Gave me something to lose
Now I know what it feels like
To wanna go outside
Like the shape of my outline
