American rapper and singer Rodarius Marcell Green, known professionally as Rod Wave release a record titled “Cold December”
The soundtrack features Rod Wave rap about his former relationships over a soulful trap instrumental that samples Hank William Jr.’s “O.D.’d in Denver”.
The track first came out as a snippet through Rod’s Instagram story in 2021 and was leaked after a little while.
Despite Rod saying the track would “probably never” drop, it was later released following pressure from his label and fans, as it finalized his contract with them. Rod performed the song in its entirety to a crowd in Nashville. He dropped a music video the following day, marking his first release of 2022.
The song was offered production assistance by outstanding producers, TnTXD, ThatBossEvan, ProducedbyJb & Luke Walker and was released on January 17, 2022
Quotable Lyrics:
Started the tour out in Denver, Colorado
I made the first one but I did not make the second show
Yeah, uh
It’s safe to say I been this way since I was eighteen
The same night I fall in love, I feel it fading
Who can you love, who can you trust now that you’re mainstream?
Don’t want no love, don’t got no trust, I feel me changin’ (Yeah)
Sometimes I think about my high school sweetheart (Oh-oh-oh)
But times change, people change and grow apart
I fell so hard and fast for Dee, I wanna start a family (Family)
She show resentment, she got pregnant, and she felt abandoned (Oh-oh-oh)
